Transmission

On Wednesday August 4th at 8PM, at Place des Festivals, Transmission promises to make an impression by exploring fragmented universes, integrated the chords of contemporary native pop, rap soul and folk with contemporary classical. Transmission is a show that defies any established concept, it's also a daring collaborative experiment of the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne and Forestare, in association with the International First Peoples Festival and Musique nomade.

ANACHNID

Winner of the SOCAN Foundation Indigenous Songwriter of the year in 2019 and nominated for the Indigenous artist of the Year at ADISQ in 2020, Anachnid is a multidisciplinary Oji-Cree artist based in Montreal.

Laura Niquay

Laura Niquay is an Atikamekw artist from the Indigenous community of Wemotaci in Quebec. In addition to being the first Atikamekw to perform at the Francofolies in Montreal, Laura Niquay received the 2011 Teweikan Music Gala's Emerging Talent Award as well as the Special Jury Award in 2017 for her body of work and involvement.

Forestare

Guitar ensemble Forestare, composed of 12 guitars and double bass, has already existed for 16 years. Since its inception, the ensemble has participated in the creation of close to 50 original works and has adapted nearly another 100 for its unique make-up. In doing this, the ensemble has created the largest repertoire of music for guitar orchestra in the world.

The Nouvel Ensemble Moderne (NEM), founded in 1989 by conductor Lorraine Vaillancourt, is a chamber orchestra composed of permanent members who perform in Québec, in Canada, and across the world. Since 2016, NEM’s Artistic Director is Normand Forget.
